Writing assistance can do more than correct mistakes. It can help writers craft clear, engaging text that works hard to get its message across.

The College of Fine and Applied Arts has its own dedicated writing advisor, offering free writing assistance that's tailored to the needs of FAA members.

Room 100G, Architecture Building
Monday–Thursday: 2:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.
Friday: 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

If none of these times is convenient, email the advisor to request an appointment.

The writing advisor keeps the same work hours as other administrative staff and is available on many days when regular classes are not being held.

The writing advisor is available to FAA students (both undergraduate and graduate) and faculty members. There is no charge for the advisor's services.

Undergraduate Students

Writing help can improve classroom assignments, but the writing tasks in student life don't stop there. The writing advisor is also happy to help with résumés and cover letters, portfolios, application letters, and many other documents.

Graduate Students

Grad students don't have to finish writing a chapter before they can contact the writing advisor. They can consult at any time on topics such as formulating a research question, developing a strong thesis statement, or managing the writing process. Job-hunt documents are also welcome.

Faculty Members

Instructors can request the writing advisor to give workshops and presentations for their classes, choosing from a list of options or requesting a custom session by completing a workshop request form. The advisor's help is also available to assist faculty members who are preparing scholarly publications, grant applications, and other written materials.
