Trumpet Lesson with Ronald Romm

Faculty members—including Ronald Romm, a core member of the Canadian Brass for 30 years and a prolific recording artist—regularly meet one-on-one with students majoring in a performance-focused discipline. Undergraduates hone technical skills, master tone, develop their artistic voices, and gain insight into how to succeed as professional musicians in today's demanding environment.

Marie Roth

"The University of Illinois fostered in me a sense of pride and confidence that allow me to be where I am today."

When Marie Roth came to the U of I as a freshman, the School of Music faculty helped her pursue music education full force. And when her interests shifted to arts administration, the College of Fine and Applied Arts team transitioned with her; Marie received guidance from FAA Career Services Coordinator Michele Plante and from staff members at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

A constant in the U.S. College Rankings top 15, the School of Music offers intensive studies that go far beyond the conservatory. The school offers leading music education, choral, and orchestra programs, diverse ensembles from symphonic bands to choruses to jazz groups, and a new Lyric Theatre program. Nearly 100 faculty members, a staff of more than two dozen professionals, and renowned visiting international artists perform, give master classes, and mentor students.

  • BA, BM, and BME programs
  • AD, MM, MME, DMA, and PhD programs
