Vista Tower—a 95-story structure with a hotel and apartments that was designed by alumna Jeanne Gang and her firm Studio Gang—will be one of Chicago's tallest skyscrapers when construction is completed in 2019. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, this will be the tallest skyscraper designed by a woman. Mayor Rahm Emanuel officiated at a ceremonial groundbreaking on September 7 for the building situated along the Chicago Riverwalk. Gang incorporated undulating forms, panoramic views of downtown, and easy access to internal and neighborhood amenities in her energy-efficient plan for the three linked structures. Watch an ABC 7 Eyewitness News video about the project. Read comments from Gang after the ceremony in a Chicago Tribune article, and get details about the financing for the project from Crain's Chicago Business.
