The Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities has named Melissa Pokorny as the winner of a 2017 IPRH-Ragdale Residential Creative Fellowship. An associate professor in the School of Art and Design, Pokorny will spend the summer at Ragdale, where she will map and photograph the extensive prairie at the artists' community 30 miles north of Chicago. She will use this research to generate sculptural pieces she calls "speculative biomes" that connect place with memory, experience, culture, and time. Learn more about her work on her website.
