World War I Symposium Coming in March

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

On March 10 and 11, the symposium 1915: Music, Memory, and the Great War will be held at various campus locations. Coordinated by Gayle Sherwood Magee and Christina Bashford of the School of Music, the performances, panels, lectures, and special events use the poem "In Flanders Fields" by Lt.-Col. John McCrae as a focal point for investigating creative responses to World War I in the United States, Canada, France, and Britain. Scholars in music, history, and literature as well as the Kronos Quartet and other performers will participate. Most events are free, and all are open to the public.
