Carl Bass, the president and CEO of Autodesk, will present a lecture on April 25 called "The Future of Making Things." This talk on design and making is aimed at stimulating discussion related to the new Illinois Design Center. Bass was one of the chief architects of AutoCAD software—the industry leader in 2D and 3D design—and has been instrumental in bringing creative tools to a wide audience. Autodesk produces software for areas including 3D modeling, animation, motion capture, construction, engineering, and drafting that have been used in settings ranging from the Oscar Award–winning films Interstellar and Gravity to navy ship design to product development to computer games. The free lecture will be held at 6 p.m. in 112 Gregory Hall.
